Handcrafted Custom Leather Goods

All of the goods that we sell are made by us in our leather shop in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. We are veteran owned, operated, and crafted.

Our process is very simple and complex at the same time. All leather goods are designed by us, handmade by us, inspected by us, shipped by us and sometimes trashed by us. I am the quality control department. We don’t have an offshore manufacturer making goods to our designs. I like variety, so most items are one of a kind. One sewing machine and many hand tools.

What are custom leather goods? To me custom Leather goods are goods designed by us, that is the customer and Brasfield Leatherworks. Goods that fit the customers needs, that look like they want, with the exotic leathers and hardware bling that they want.

What is the process? The customer gives us a call, we discuss the need and all the options that are available, from the exotic skins to the hardware and finish. The finish alone has dozens on choices. The exotic leathers go from alligator, boa, rattlesnake, ostrich, springbok, rabbit, to some controlled leathers that can only be acquired from licensed game dealers and conservationist.

Why add exotic leathers? Making a plain handmade leather bi-fold wallet can take about 8 hours over two to three days. Adding exotic leathers may increase the manufacturing time a couple of hours, by adding the exotic you are usually adding the cost of the exotic leathers but the elegance added can’t be priced.

Such as. Good ostrich with lots of quill dimples is easy to work and use but the cost is quite expensive. You can’t buy one square foot just for the bi-fold wallet you’re making. It makes a beautiful belt for that trophy or dress buckle, but you can’t buy a piece 3 inches wide by 48 inches long. You have to buy the whole hide. Alligator is a completely different animal, it is hard to work, lots of waste and expensive, but it is amazingly beautiful in a Jurassic Park kind of way.

Quality means that I use the best material, design the best and safest solution and apply my best effort. I must stand beside my products.

What does that mean? It means that if you are carrying your guitar in a strap I made and the strap breaks I will refund the strap price, or replace the strap. It also means that if you use the strap to pull your car out of a mud-hole, it won’t be covered.
